Airbus A220

Variants: A220-100, A220-300

The Airbus A220 is a family of five-a-breast narrow-body aircraft by Airbus Canada Limited Partnership (ACLP). It was originally developed by Bombardier Aviation and had two years in service as the Bombardier CSeries. The program was officially launched on July 13th, 2008. The smaller A220-100 (formerly the CS100) first flew on September 16th, 2023 and received an initial type certificate from Transport Canada on December 18th, 2015 before entering service with SWISS on July 15, 2016. The stretched A220-300 (formerly the CS300) made its maiden flight on February 27th, 2015 and received its certificate on July 11th, 2016 before entering service with airBaltic on December 14th, 2016. In July 2018, the aircraft was rebranded as the A220 following Airbus acquiring a majority steak in the program through a joint venture that became ACLP in June 2019. In February 2020, Airbus increased its steak in ACLP to 75% through Bombardier’s exit, while Investissement Quebec held the reamaining steak.
