Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on September 11th, a Delta Airlines A350-900 (N503DN) struck the tail of a CRJ-900 (N302PQ), ripping it nearly clean off. The CRJ, owned by regional subcontractor Endeavor Air was operating a delta connection flight when the incident occurred. The A350 was taxiing to the runway as DL295 to Tokyo Haneda (HND) when the incident occurred, resulting in severe damage to the aircraft’s right wing. The regional jet, which was sitting on a perpendicular taxiway, was providing service to Lafayette Regional Airport (LFT) as DL5526.

Fortunately, despite the severity of the damage, no injuries were reported. After the incident, passengers on the CRJ-900 were quickly deplaned and returned to the terminal via bus. The A350, however, was able to return to the terminal under its own power. Both flights were immediately cancelled.
