A Kalitta Air 747-400F has gotten stuck in the grass along Ningbo Lishe International Airport’s Runway 31. The aircraft, bearing the registration N401KZ, landed at 15:22 after a 10 hour flight from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport as K4968. After touching down, the aircraft slid off Runway Thirteen’s right-hand side. The airport immediately deployed emergency response vehicles that were sent to the scene. Thankfully, no crew members or emergency response personal were injured in the incident.

One-third of the aircraft was left overhanging the runway (the tail section), along with the aircraft’s left wing. Because of this, the airport was essentially shut down. Inbound flights were diverted and departing flights were suspended. The airport has since resumed flights.

Despite the circumstances, N401KZ seems to have sustained minimal damage, as there were no visible flaws on the aircraft. The cause of the incident is now being investigated by the CAAC. It is likely that poor weather conditions played a crucial role.
